The central emphasis of the Church of the Brethren is not a creed, but a commitment to follow Christ in simple obedience to be faithful disciples in the modern world.

We hold the New Testament as our guide for living, affirming with it the need for lifelong study of the scriptures.

The Dove, our newsletter, will be published monthly. Please get any items you wish to be in The Dove to Wilkie by the 15th of each month.

Amendments to the Church Constitution

At the September Congregational Business meeting, the following sections were updated as follows:

Bylaws Article 7 - Business Meeting - the number of required business meetings per year was changed from two to one, held on the last Sunday in September.

Constitution Article 5 Congregational Business Meeting- a new classification of voting members was approved-

Associate Member: Associate members are defined as persons who maintain their traditional membership at some other congregation, whether Brethren or not, yet regularly worship, support, and serve the Downsville congregation.

Those wishing to be included on the rolls as Associate Members must make their intentions known in writing to the Church Board Chairperson. The request must be reviewed by the Board's Executive Committee for acceptance. This membership in no way changes their traditional membership at another congregation.

Anyone wishing to be considered an Associate Member of Downsville Church of the Brethren should submit a note to Board Chairperson, Robin Haywood for acceptance by the Board's Executive Committee.
